Welcome Message from Medford Parks,
Recreation and Facilities Staff

At 1,700 acres, Prescott Park is one of the largest city-owned public parks in the United States, and Medford is
fortunate to own and control the future of the wildland containing scenic Roxy Ann Peak and its popular trail system
that is used by thousands of residents and visitors each year.

According to the Department’s annual park maintenance survey, Prescott Park is the most visited community park by
residents, and is second behind Bear Creek Park in terms of citizen “favorite” Medford parks. Prescott Park currently
contains approximately 18 miles of trails, with an additional 15 miles envisioned in the park’s master plan.

In May, the City Council approved a $442,000 real estate transaction with the Messer Family to add an adjacent
40.21-acre parcel to the park. At the same time, the Messers donated a second parcel, 40.29 acres, to the Medford
Parks and Recreation Foundation. The newly acquired 80.5 acres are located in the southwest section of the park,
adjacent to the Vista Point neighborhood along East McAndrews.

The Department intends to establish a trail connection from Bordeaux Avenue to the existing Twilight Trail, opening
up the western half of this gorgeous parkland containing the headwaters of both Lazy and Crooked creeks.
